What Nobody Tells You About Closing Day and Letting Go | The Truth About Selling My Salon, Part 4
I genuinely didn’t think I would cry.
I had spent SO much time preparing to sell Salon Lace.
The documents were ready. The accounts were transferred. The agreement was signed. The keys were handed over.
I thought I was prepared.
And then I got into my car, drove to the bank, sat in the parking lot holding the check from the sale of the business I had spent 13 years building…
And completely fell apart.
You guys. I CRIED. 😭
I was SO freaking happy.
And I was SO freaking sad.
All at the exact same time.
Because nobody prepares you for what it actually feels like to let go of something that has been such a massive part of your life and your identity.
In the FINAL episode of The Truth About Selling My Salon, I’m taking you into the part of this process that no checklist, contract, or business plan could have prepared me for.
What did closing day actually feel like?
How did I transition the team, clients, accounts, and responsibilities?
What boundaries did I need after the sale?
And maybe the biggest question of all…
Who am I if I’m no longer a salon owner?
WHEW. This one is emotional, you guys.
But if you’re closing a chapter in your life or business or wondering whether it’s okay to be ready for what’s next while still grieving what you’re leaving behind... I REALLY want you to hear this one.
Because one of the biggest things I’ve learned is this:
Grief does not automatically mean regret. Sometimes grief simply means it mattered. ❤️
